Similar to the project where a biography booklet was created, this assignment focused on researching a typographer, their typeface(s) and then designing a poster that correlated with their work. Howard Kettler was the font designer that interested me as I often use his font in my own works. After reading an overview of how he created his typeface, I discovered that it was originally meant to be used on typewriters which sparked my idea of incorporating one onto the poster. However, I wanted to breakup the sophistication of his text by incorporating playful elements that would brighten up the poster. For example, this included removing the harsh lines of a typewriter by designing one free-form, arranging the elements in an asymmetrical alignment as well as the addition of complementary colors.
